EDUCATION & CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

My formal education includes a B.A. in Psychology and a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida International University.  

As a therapist, I’ve worked at Anaga  Psychotherapy Center and Family Resource Center of South Florida, both preventing and promoting change in dysfunctional parent/child interaction patterns, promoting positive self concepts, building healthy relationships through family support, family preservation, parent education and counseling. I’ve also supported youth as a counselor and educator at a Private Middle School  and supported teen girls transitioning from childhood to adolescence at MGM Mental Health Services.

In the corporate realm, I’ve taught community-based, self-care workshops for Women in the community as well as Parenting workshops. I partner with local women’s empowerment groups  and my heart is nourished by serving on support groups for women during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Welcome! My name is Lucy Coba,  I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I have over 10 years of experience working with diverse population. 

​

I strongly believe that therapy can provide beneficial improvements in mental well-being. You should be at the center of the therapeutic process, and my role is to help you develop the coping skills necessary to manage life’s difficulties and sustain overall well-being.

I love empowering and guiding clients to be mindful and acknowledge their inner strengths. My goal is that you thrive and create the life you want and deserve.

My formal education includes:

  • A Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Psychology from Florida International University (FIU).

  • Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida International University (FIU)

  • Post Graduate Certificates in treating Anxiety Disorders

  • Certification in Neuro-psychotherapy

  • EMDR Therapy training

  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy training

  • DBT Therapy training  

 

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

As Psychotherapist, I’ve worked in various psychotherapy agencies  that focused on preventing and promoting changes in dysfunctional parent/child interaction patterns, promoting positive self concepts, building healthy relationships through family support, family preservation, parent education and psychotherapy.

I have also facilitated court mandated substance abuse and domestic violence groups for victims and perpetrators. In addition, I have supported youth as a counselor and educator in Private Schools in Miami Dade County.

​

In the corporate realm, I’ve taught self-care workshops for Women in the community as well as parenting workshops. I partner with local women’s empowerment groups  and my heart is nourished by serving on support groups for women victims of domestic violence.
